Fished area close to / across from Gatesville landing, about 6-7 ft of water , used nightcrawlers under a bobber .................

For those interested, drove down to Phelps Lake , water low & launch ramp closed , Wildlife officer said fishin slow......... they pumped water from lake to douse the fires down that way.............. saw a BIG buck run into the woods and a cotton mouth crawl off the road.........
Stopped in Edenton on the way back , saw young man fishin at the marina dock , had several nice white perch and a couple of Gil`s in the bucket......

    Pat,

They have been eating up the white perch in Edenton. They are up shallow. Use shrimp, beetlespins, small roadrunners and you will load up if you find them.CF

"what are you calling a white perch, white bass, crappie?"
    WHITE PERCH
    Scientific Name: Morone americana

Other Common Names: silver perch, sea perch

    Identification
The white perch is a thin, deep-bodied fish with sides that are predominantly silver, but sometimes golden or olive colored. Very similar to the white bass in appearance, the white perch does not have dark lines running the length of the body. The white perch also lacks a tooth patch in the center of the tongue, which distinguishes it from the white bass (one patch) and striped bass (two patches). Its two dorsal fins are separated by a tiny notch. The first dorsal fin has nine spines, and the second has one spine and 12 soft rays. The anal fin has three spines and eight or 10 soft rays.
