Default Great day

I am I posting in the right area? If not please let me know!

We were able to get out yesterday before the rain. My son and his GF went with us for the first time. We had a nice day out on the river. Only caught 38 (which is a little slow) but still nice. I tried beetle spin after beelte spin and just didn't have any luck with them. I tried red and white, yellow and black, black and yellow, green and black and none of them seemed to do much. I must not do something right with them.

Will try again in a couple of weeks.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Ali-

Please don't give up. I have had days where they didn't work so good too. I don't do rivers much so I'd don't know how much the current could be a factor. On lakes anyway, it is a rare day I can't at least catch a few. Ask those boys how they were working them the day before. It sounds like they had them figured out. My only idea would be to try slower & smaller. Maybe cast up into the current to slow it down.

You can get a cheap disposable digital camera at Walmart. Then you could get pics & still release 'em for another day.

Thanks I will try slower next time. I did try a range of small and the larger ones but we will give it a try again soon. I do take my camera with me but usually only take pictures of the bigger ones. I do have a picture I will post of my daughters redeye she caught a couple of weeks ago. it was a little over 1.5lbs. Nice size.

Finally got off of call. I went out for a few hours of fishin after work. It was tough, pretty windy. Managed to get a few, about 12 or so I'd say.
Here are a few

Let 'em all go for another day.

All on 1/16 oz beetles with redbody/chartruse tails. Last week the beetle bite was much easier. Not a single Crappie today. Last week it was about 3 to 1 Crappies/Bluegills. We had a cold front come through last week & it really seems to have messed up the bite. I'm hoping it warms back up this week.
