Hoping the rain holds off so I can go with my son on Sunday. Should be fun we are taking my sons Girlfriend for the first time.

Exclamation Sounds great Ali-B ...

now, where's the pics
We want PICS !!! And we want lake name, depth, water temps, methods used, species caught, and all that other stuff
It ain't that we don't trust ya .... it's just incentive for those of us that tend to waffle a little about going or not going, and a vicarious experience for those of us that don't get to go often.

... cp

Great news Alibama.

Be forewarned - Once you start using these little baits, the fish aren't the only ones who get "hooked".

I rarely use anything else anymore. I have hundreds of baits & lures, a dozen or more rods, & I could get by with one ultralight rod & a baggie of jig spinners/tubes & jig heads.

The only thing better than catching fish on a lure that is this fun to fish, is if you built the lure yourself.

Here's what I'm using. These are not true "Beetle Spins" because I make my own.

Here's some results.

The rigs pictured are 1/8 & 1/16th oz heads & 1 1/2 in tubes or curly tails.

1 - ultralight rod/reel, 4 lb test line & some of these rigs, almost gauranteed fun! Find some weed edges in 6 -12 FOW. Toss it out & reel it back. If that don't work, slow it down. Sometimes so slow I can't feel the blade spinning. Other times they hit it on the fall or "twitched". Experiment till you find what they want. Hang on - Big Bass & Pike sometimes hit it too. Somedays color does not matter, somedays it will make a difference. Rule of thumb for both bodies & blades, "Bright day, Bright color - Dark day Dark color.

Alot of folks think you can't troll something this small but you can. A 1/16 oz spinner rig will get down around 5 ft on light line. This can be a great way to locate 'em.

Sorry no pictures. I will probably get shot for saying this but I hate fish lol. I just can not eat it. Fish, seafood it all makes me ill. We usually catch and release unless we catch a nice size small mouth then the kids will eat it.

On Friday they used the Beetle Spin almost all day. The had the best luck on the yellow with black on it. They also used the Silver and Black Big O's and a brown one. The majority of what they caught was on the Beetles though.
