Anyone used beetle spins in general? I have used them many times and caught a PILE of fish on them, including a 4lb bass. My favorite is a 1/32oz black one on 4lb test line on a 5 1/2 foot UL rod.

That is my favorite bait for bream. Black split tail with yellow stripes.

I use em and like them. They are a great traditional bait (kinda like a Rooster Tail), but I have had better luck with them on lakes then rivers. My problem is I am always on the river, and just can't find my niche with the type of lure/bait to catch the amount of fish the other boys on this forum do.

using a marabou Roadrunner, over a BeetleSpin. I've just caught more fish with a RR.
One trick I've learned, when using a marabou RR (right out of the package) ... is to trim the hair to about 1/2 the original length, between the tip of the hair and the hook bend This makes the bait smaller, true, but it also stops alot of the small fish from just nipping at the tail. It certainly hasn't stopped the Crappie and Sunfish from nailing it (or the White Bass, Black Bass, Channel Cats, Drum, Hybrid Stripers, and many other species )

what i have done from time to time is put a road runner on a beetlespin blade setup...deadly for white bass

1/8 oz. green with black stripe split tail, and the 1/16 oz. white with red dot are my favorites. you can catch just about anything that swims on one of those two baits.

I'm trying to learn to use Beetle Spins, but the problem I have is... they are too light. I have a UL setup with 4# line, but can't cast it more than 10' from the boat!! How can you cast the 1/32 oz a good distance?

i have a casting set up for them.. a 7 foot ultra light with 4 lb test on a small okuma reel.. i can cast it plenty far

I'd be checking the spool to see if the line is tangled or has a cut on the spool itself.

Second check the guides on your pole, with a q-tip to see if theres a burr that's keeping the line from flowing freely.

You should be able to throw way more than 10' even with a 1/32nd jig and the weight of the spinner.

Yeah, something's wrong. Last year, I fished with a 1/32 oz BS and was easily casting 50-60' from shore. All these will help with distance:

longer rod
bigger reel spool
thinner diameter line

Hmmmm, I dunno deathb4.... the rod is a lil 5 footer or so, small spinning reel with 4 lb test... no tangles in line, guides are clean. Heck, I can toss a heavier Roadrunner a country mile with the thing... its just the beetle spin that won't toss out too far!
