Default Red Breast and Rock Bass 5/18/18

I took my friend, Gary Fomby, aka Biofisher, to the Riverpark in search of Red Breast sunfish on beds. We caught 13 of those on one small bed that I have fished for years.

We we also caught several Rock Bass aka Goggle eyes, in addition to 5 small crappie and a few Spotted Bass.

The Sunfish were caught on Itty Bitty slab slayers in black, pink lemonade, and blue ice colors on tiny jig heads with a B.B. shot about 12” above the jig. We were fishing 2-3 feet of water.

When end we switched to bass fishing, Gary used one of my pearl 2.5” swimming minnows and I used a 2” Southern Pro natural colors bait. I forget the name of the color. We were fishing in the downtown area of Chattanooga. We could see the Aquarium from the boat. Grin.

Red bellies are probably my all time favorite eating fish. If crappie fought pound for pound like they did, it would take salt water sized tackle to land them.

Those red breast sunnies are a nice looking fish. You have a good diversity in that river system.
