I prefer Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon . Bro used high vis lines and I caught 10 to his 1
2# Hi-Vis Vicious..I have landed several cats and bass over 4# with no problem

8 lbs clear, nothing else. Why? It catches fish! Since I do a lot of trolling and drifting I need a little stronger line than the normal 4 or 6 lbs for casting.
4lb kastking fluorokote
Suffix Elite 4 lb test hi vis yellow. Never had a problem with the hi vis line. I have caught trout in mountain streams as clear as tap water and trout would bite my offerings. Not a problem in my opinion. Oh, and I have caught Largemouth bass on hi vis line and a lot of bass fishermen think that they are line shy. Old wives tale. Grin. IMO.
Slabprowler, Mr. S thanked you for this post
Well I am going to pick one rod for clear water panfishing and change it over to some 4 lb Zebco clear line I picked up on mark down for 50 cents the other day....Maybe even buy a new rod and reel for panfish to put the clear line on.

I too have experienced trout catching at it finest with hi vis line . I have also experienced shellcracker and bluegill that were line shy in a particular lake . Hi vis does not receive the same catch rate as clear fluorocarbon in this particular lake .i believed it was a wives tale also , until I experienced it for myself.

Yup, Dutch, agreed! The only way to know is to test for yourself. That's what I did, and that's why I continue to use clear line for bluegill.
Drumking, bass and catfish are a different story. We aren't talking about bass and catfish. I fish deep clear waters as well, clear line works best for me about 10 to 1 comparatively when targeting skittish bluegill on deep clear water. I catch more fish with 8 lbs clear than 6 lbs hi vis. I get more bites with 4 lbs clear than 8 lbs clear, but the way I fish and the rocky bottom I would break off about every 10 feet of drift, so I end up catching fewer fishing because I spend too much time retying.
Certain things for certain waters work better than others thing in other waters.
My dad outfished me once. He was using clear mono about 6 lbs. I was using some latest greatest braid, super-thin, camo green and everything. He out fished me 10 to 1 the same way. In fact I tried it side by side. They just wouldn't bite my line, but his basic mono clear line they bit every time.
Clear Trilene XL just because it is the only 2 lb mono I can generally find in the local stores.
