I didn't ask about charlie brewers.
Its becoming commonplace where every bait I ask about is turned into a sponsor thread.
I'm sure Mr brewer makes a fine product but this thread wasn't started to celebrate his legacy.
Plus would you want your thread to be taken over by someone else.
If you want to talk about charlie brewer feel free to start your own thread but this one is about beetles.
Stop beating on our sponsors. Without them we would not have this site. And a beetle thread can be responded to by anyone about beetle jigs, sponsor posts or not. You don't like to read about baits we like that happen to be sponsors here, then don't read the post. No need to beat on sponsors. We only pick sponsors whose we like btw.

Slab I wasn't bashing your sponsor. I'm sure they make fine baits. But when I ask about a certain bait like these beetles, my threads go from what I originally asked into a promo for a sponsored bait. And it gets away from what I originally asked.
When a thread is made wouldn't it be easier if it stayed on topic. If we are not allowed to talk about unsponsored gear or baits let me know and I won't talk bout them then.
But as I was saying I wasn't bashing, you, your forum, or your sponsors.
This place is kinda cool, and if I didn't like this place why would I have asked crappypappy for these righteous stickers.
And for further proof I'm not bashing sponsors....
Why would I start a thread about grizzly jigs if I was sponsor bashing?

The moderators of the forum will determine if something is being hijacked inappropriately. You need to stop attacking members and especially super moderators when you think your thread is being hijacked. Please report any issues you have to a moderator or to me via PM, and do not post about it in threads. I know you're new here but I do wish you the best of luck here.

Threads frequently meander to and fro, but I don't think anybody was intentionally hijacking your thread. They were just mentioning similar baits that they use. In this case, it was the slider. I often mention the trout magnet, but they don't sponsor the site or me.

Almost any small jig will catch bluegill. As I said in another thread, take any 4" finesse worm and cut into 4 pieces. You'll have four 1" baits that will catch plenty of bluegill.
Thanks Slab thanked you for this post

    Now I'm at a loss.
It went from bashing sponsors to harassing super moderators.
I won't post in anymore threads or start any.
I'll just read what you all post.
But if I've done what you say how come I havent received a warning in my inbox or anything????

Because I asked about the beetle lures from my original post.

    You asked, we replied.
It's not about brands as it is about lure design - the Trout Magnet just one of many similar to that beetle design that catch a ton of fish - the beetle design primarily a split straight tail that's rounded or comes to a point. When you ask a question about lure design, expect input based on the experience of many using alternative sizes and colors, where the emphasis on color is nowhere as important as length and angler action applied - especially to that style grub. (In fact a better question should have included jig weight, hook size and line diameter and type, as crucial considerations when using straight and cone tail grubs. IMO the lure you showed is too short and the hook and jig head too large.)

Even if all you wanted was only input on the lure you pictured, you're bound to get suggestions from those meaning well but naturally somewhat biased. That's the nature of forums, no getting around it. In fact none of us are sponsors of any of lures suggested and only mention them as relative to the topic. If I post this picture of my hand poured cone-tails, does it mean I'm selling them?

No one takes over a thread. It evolves or dies same as any conversation started by someone in the back of your boat. As far as a legacy being celebrated, I have no idea where that came from! I started making my own a few years ago and never even heard of Brewer's Crappie Magnet until last year when a fishing partner gave me one - and yet I still didn't know who produced them until by accident. (I ordered over 400 from Ebay - 50/ bag when I did find out because I'm too lazy to make my own and in so many colors !)

The lures you showed are adequate IMHO, but opinions vary based on the above. Good luck with them. I'll stick with my preferences.

Use something similar in central il for gills. Bass style senko and cut into pieces. Hammer gills. Those will hunt for sure
