Size: 167.6 KBLooks like the red ear have not vacated my spot, I have only caught a few this month and mostly copper nose. I am still having trouble distinguishing the species and I do believe this is a female red ear, correct me if I am wrong because I want to know the difference. I also wondered how many of you fish by the solar calendar. It seems to me that about 3 days before the new and full moon I get a much better bite on all species of fish.

Looks more like a hybrid (CNBG X RE). RE is more torpedo shaped.

I like 3 days before and 3 days after.....

That makes since because they are mixed together in such a small area year round. I have not seen any of the green sun fish over there were I am fishing but so far I have seen Copper nose, blue gill and red ear, the red ear show up early in the season then sort of vanish for the winter. Copper nose rule most of the time though. Yeah I like those times as well. I ask allot of guys I take out if they pay attention to the moon phase and most say No.

Size: 120.2 KBHere is a better look at that same fish. So if it is a hybrid then that means there are 4 species of gill in Lake Perrs, Copper nose, Red ear, Bluegill, Sun fish and Hybid. Now all we need is Rock Bass or Warmouth in there.

Nice fish...but am pretty sure that is a red ear crossed with bluegill....as LedHed mentioned. We see that a lot here in TN....but the cross is with northern strain bluegill as there are no copper nose Gills in TN. Yeah I keep up with the phase of the moon but in the end I just go fishing. Caught last week....this is cross between northern strain bluegill and red ear.

    Regards
