Agree - 6# and maybe even 4# in open water allows the best wobble to the lure - crucial in that style lure.

What pound test did you catch them on?
Used 4 lb test monofiliament Stren. It came on the reel. I like the line though it can be a bit hard to manage in heavy winds.

Hey folks I am back. I love, love the panfish and trout magnets. Since creating this thread back last summer, I have caught blugills out the wazoo, redear, warmouths, pumpkinseeds, 1 small largemouth bass, 1 small catfish, and 7 stocked trout with them. Several different colors as well. I really like these things. Working on fishing the curly tail grubs now. Line used has been 4 lb test Stren or Berkley. Just the regular clear stuff.

Tryp is right, you're officially ruint. When you get a few dollars together, and you decide you really want to have a ton of fun and be able to cast these little bugs, put together a 2lb outfit and throw 1/32 and 1/64. That's what has ruint me lately. Got a 1.5lb crappie on one of those rigs today. It gives light tackle a whole different meaning. Keep us posted, you help teach us all.

I’ve been fishing UL and micro jigs with 2# test...and sometimes 1.4# almost exclusively for many years now......been on Trout Magnet Pro Staff for 10 years. Micro jigs will put a lot of fish in the boat...so to speak as it is rare for me to keep fish. I had a great day Thursday with the white bass on UL and 2# test line. Even though white bass are extremely aggressive they were not in a biting mood....and I was sitting on top of several hundred of them. It took a micro jig....the Trout Magnet.....to coax them to bite. Catching around 55 of them on the UL was a hoot. Follow Skeets advice and you’ll be a happy camper.

    Regards

Nice! I find the natural colors of camouflage work best for bluegill: browns, tans, olives and black.
