Default New Guy & New Sport

I am new to this forum and somewhat new to the sport of crappie fishing. Let me start out by saying after visiting several other hunting and fishing forums this one is by far the best sight when it comes to reliable knowlege and general respect for others. I have been a bass fisherman my whole life and have recently decided to make a switch to crappie fishing. Drowning minnows next to a bridge pier or over a brush pile is about the extent of my crappie fishing knowlege. However, I have decided to try some other techniques. Spider rigging seems to be all the rage right now and I think I will give it a try. I have found lots of useful information on this forum to help me get started. Years ago I used to fish on Skiatook up in Hominy Creek about his time of year and actually did pretty well. Does anyone on here have any info on Skiatook and does it still produce like it used too? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Default Welcome aboard

Welcome OKDucks, You will enjoy this site and hone your skills on crappie fishing. I still enjoy fighting a bass but dont fish for them...ironically my 2 biggest bass were caught while crappie fishing [both on jigs] and both over 6lbs. In fact the largemouth is right down the road in a pond! My neihbor who was 14 at the time hooked him 2 years ago but got his line broke, he found out later I had released it in the pond....I got a big laugh outa that!:D

I've been promising myself to check out Skiatook since I moved to Oologah 8 years ago. The only other place I have fished since moving here is Bluff Landing on the Verdigris. I have no need to venture far. I am looking forward to Eufaula though. It's been at least 25 years since I've fished there and can't remember beans about the lake. Welcome!
