I was wondering if fish finders with a color screen are worth the extra money?
however - my Lund came with a Lowrance X135 which is an outstanding B&W. Since I needed one for up front I went ahead and bought a color model. Liked it so much I sold the X135, moved that color to the front and got a combo Lowrance color/gps for the console. Again, it's probably not worth the money but at my age, I don't care.:D Sure do like the color ones!

Next one I buy will be color
I saw a thread on another forum where you can tweak the color to tell the difference between a skin fish and a scale fish. Looked real to me.
Last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it!
I run a 520C on the console, Tranducer at back of boat and GPS on the deck right above tranducer. A friend recommend Eagle 320, B&W, at the trolling motor. He doesn't have good eyes and neither do I. He sees the B&W better in daylight than the color. I mst admit, I see the jigs, bottom, brush, and fish on screen better on the 320 better than the color screen.

If you have the cash go for a side imaging unit you will be glad you did
Thanks for all the info I think the best way to find out is ask the people that use the product. I was thinking about adding one to my boat when I get it. It comes with a lowrance x96 but i'm not sure how good a fish finder it will be.
The X96 is another excellent depthfinder. That is what I had on my Skeeter before buying the Lund. Unless you just really want the color the X96 would be fine and do anything you need it to. If you want color I would move the X96 to the front of the boat - with just one the X96 will work.
