When I lived down there growing up I can remember getting on the Verdigris and tearing em up around riffles north of Nowata towards the KS border. There was a place where many people went and waded but I remember catching them out of the boat faster than you could get your grub in the water. Boy that was fun.

It has been 15 years since I did that but it seems to me it was in early March time frame? Water temps in the low to mid 50's or something like that. Not long from now or could already be about that time depending on your water temps.

    Default Sandies

Sandies spawn at 55 degs. I would expect the action to rev up about the 3rd week of March depending on water temps. The fish should be staging now on the upper end of the lake in the river channel.

Great fishing for Sandies, blues, channels and Wallys above 60hwy, but not only the temp has to be right the flow rate is important. Several years the flow has been to high to fish the area when they made their run.
