Default 2 man bass boats and depth finder

    Newbe to Crappie.com Fish mostly Oologah-Claremore-Hudson-strip pits-ponds
Has anyone mounted a depth finder on a 8ft 2 man bass boat. Where did you mount the transducer for protection and away from the motor turbulance?

do not put any holes in the boat mount externally only as you will regret screwing in on the back or front. Iknow I did it. BAD MOVE

You would want it on the trolling motor.
If you have a rig with a small gas powered motor, consider using two units, just like in a regular boat. This way, you can research more water while under gas power, toss out a bouy and work the area with your trolling motor. To do a rear mount, just build a removable mounting bracket that your transom mount ducer is on and keep it fastened top side. That way, you can remove it when you are loading, unloading, or sitting in the back of a truck. As for keeping it from getting damaged while on the water, don't worry, most of them will kick up when they strike something.

I used to fish out of these alot, I mounted mine to the hull [on back] with high strength 5 min. epoxy. The only problems encountered were loading, it seemed I always managed to bang it or knock it out of alignment. I did see one that was velcroed on and it worked great. Also you can make an adjustable bracket so it slides up or down, when loading just pull it up and lock it down. Welcome to the board I hope this helps you out.

I fished out of one of these for years. I had a Sidefinder brand fishfinder it was a transom mount (like a trolling motor). It work really well if you remembered to raise it up at higher speeds I had to replace a few mounting brackets from Cabelas.
Was that a bite? Forgot what they feel like!

I once used a piece of 1x4 and mounted the transducer to it and when i was ready to locate i would clamp the 1x4 to the boat with a C-clamp...

it worked great and i put no holes in that boat.
Be kind, go fishing and unwind.
