Cold Fronts
There is supposed to be cold front coming this weekend. Do you guys think that it will shut down the crappie? I was thinking of heading down to Eufala this weekend and fish from the heated docks. What do you guys think?

cold front
A cold front is a cold front and my experience over the years is that it will shut things off for approx 3 days post front.

is the fishing is usually pretty good the day before the front?
and what about the pressure i heard that when the pressure is falling that the best time to go and what about the old saying " when the wind is out of the west the fishing is the best and the east fishing is the least " does any one belive in this old saying ?

Fronts
Yes the day before the front arives is generally good. This past Sunday I was scheduled to fish for catfish on the Arkansas River. The warm front hit Saturday morning around 9:00AM at Gore. The guide and his party caught the only fish at 9:30 AM, couldn't buy a shad most of the day and came in at 3:00PM battling 4' waves. I cancelled the next day's trip. We both knew Sunday would be worthless. This forum had several people discussing their water hauls on the lake on Saturday. The catfish web site had several people with the same problem on Saturday. My experience has been that 3 days of stable weather needs to pass before things are back to normal. Each day after the front the fishing slowly improves.

I've caught plenty of crappie after a front [although you have to change tactics] You can believe the "out of East bite the least" saying. But from my experience any wind shift can turn crappie off. But given time they usually resume activity, also no wind can be as bad as too much wind. Bottom line in Oklahoma you wont ever get any serious fishin done worrying about weather.

Adjust to the conditions fish every chance you get thats how you get better.
Don't worry about fronts they come and go all winter and spring you just have to catch the first one to get the second.

Have to agree with kcir, fished T-bird the Sunday before the ice/sleet storm hit, wind was out of the east most of the day before it switched to the north. Caught quite a few fish total and took home 15 keepers. Didn't keep anything under 10" and largest was 14". Had to keep adjusting depth and colors but they were there to be caught.
