Ok guys, I would like to start makeing my plans for the trip down there on the 14th. I want to be able to fish some creeks that has a decent share of brush within 2' of the banks. Downed trees are good too. This is going to be a long deserved vacation weekend for myself and I plan to fish my rear off. I could use some help perhaps with a link that shows a particular creek, or better yet, a couple of coordinates that I can google earth up and have a look.
I really appreciate it. It's been maybe 25 years since I fished Eufaula and I think I was in the Gentry creek area.
Can you guys that know the lake start hooking us up now so we have time to do proper homework? It would be better than waiting until we get down there.

Reaper; Rock Creek is good & full of ice damaged brush, you can get to it launching from the Rock Creek ramp. Also Coal Creek is loaded with brush as well, but it's a longer run to get in there.

Hello Reaper, Lip is telling you right!! There are lenty of lay downs on the the south end along Rock creek, Coal creek, Fish creek, Elm creek, Ash creek etc. If you are looking for buck-brush that might be difficult because the lake is low right now but the water level can change over night. The Rock creek area in the month of March is loaded with people especially on the weekend. If it were me I wouldn't try that bank for very long. Most years in March the fish are in full blown pre-spawn you will catch better fish off the bank in 8-16ft of water fishing 6-14ft deep. Good luck and good fishing. EB
I'll be chasing the big boyz that hit a bit earlier than March real soon. I just need to be able to get this boat back in float mode.

Don't know where you had in mind to go but they are stacked up pretty good in Gaines Creek, way back in there below Hickory Point. Last Saturday morning I was back in there just after daybreak. Went back probably 2 or 3 miles from the boat ramp. Fished until around noon and had my limit. Some fairly nice and a few small ones. They were bunched up in groups and scattered down the channel. Anywhere from 8'-12' deep. The only bad thing was that when I was on my way out it looked like the Wal-Mart parking lot. There were boats everywhere, had to pretty much idle all the way out. I'll be there again this Friday and Sunday though! Hope you have a good trip whereever you go!

Crappie Slinger where is the best place to get minnows down there? I will be down on Sat. and Sun. be in a white and blue Javelin Bass boat. I was down last Sat. but did not have minnows, we didn't have as much luck on the jigs as the minnow fisherman. :D
You can buy minnows in Crowder at the gas station. I'm pretty sure you can get them across the street at the restaurant that Todd Huckabee and Barry Morrow (sp?) run as well. They have pretty good burgers there too. In McAlester just north of Old Town McAlester, about a mile, on business 69 there is a gas station called TJ's. White building with blue trim, that's where I usually get gas, drinks and minnows if I'm going to use them. I live back towards the lake from there. In Krebs on 270 East just east of Pete's Place there are two gas stations, one on each side of the road that sell minnows. Haven't ever bought them at either place so don't know much about them. The old Gorilla Store used to have a good reputation but it has closed, changed owners I believe and reopened. These two are closer to Hickory point if your going that way. I'll be in an older brown and tan aluminum Bass Hawk. It's not that pretty but it's always ready when I am and it's never let me down.
Maybe I'll see you and we can say hello. Good Luck!!!!
