If you have a boat, you can fish beneath the bridge (hwy9A) that runs through longtown. Use the pier furthest to the west. Used to be a rope tied all the way around the pier just beneath the surface of the water. You could tie up to the rope and remain steady. Haven't fished under that bridge for around 4 years, so the rope may be gone by now. Its a real good spot but you have to get there way before daylight or the locals will beat you to it. Good luck.
Never, never attempt to dry out shad in a $1000 Maytag convection oven......... never!

Wister!
Or, it use to be my favorite spot. Since I moved away, haven't been back in nearly 10 years. But I use to catch Crappie there every bit as big as the ones from Eufaula. The Poteau arm always produced well for me, especially in years when the water was a little high. The beaver lodges are a Crappie goldmine during the spawn.
My strip pit! Its a big strip pit with big bass, big crappie, big panfish, and big cats.
