Thread: Lake Draper

    Default Lake Draper

Has anyone had any luck at the Draper docks? I was reading in a magazine how Draper’s Bass population was the worst in the state. This was according to the shock tests they did in Oklahoma last spring. I am not real sure the reason for the Bass problem and if this affects the Crappie population at all. I don’t have a boat, so dock or shore spots at Draper would be helpful. Thanks

If you fish on point 4,19,or 23 at the docks we normally did pretty good year before last, but haven't been fishing out there in awhile the crappie in my avitar was caught off of point 19 it was 17.5 inches didn't weigh it. but if you go out there make darn shure you have a city permit cause the fines are pretty steep and they do come around and check for state license and city permit a few times a day dont let any one tell you different cause i seen alot of fines handed out the last year that I fished Drapper. And some of the folks that got them told me they had been fishing that lake for over 15 years and never got checked.

    Good Luck and Good Fishing.

Grubby I agree with you. Make sure you get the permits. they have them at the marina. I also like the 19 and 23 spots. But you need to make sure you go out there with a buddy and go during the day there have been some robberies out there. I haven't been out for two years and I think I was out there one time when you were out there grubby with a relative of yours I believe , Jason and Jessie. But we did get some nice crappie out of there and cats too.

    Default Thanks

Thanks for the information guys. I have a city permit and have been out to those points to look around the last couple of days. I am aware of people being robbed out there at Draper. I am a state law enforcement officer and I always carry a gun when I go fishing alone for that reason. I grew up in Norman, and I use to fish off the DAM at T-bird and do pretty good but now that I live in Moore I was just looking for something a little closer.

Also at the spillway east of the dam where the water comes INTO the lake is pretty good for the sandies and crappie. You used to be able to park right down on the water edge.

Last year they were catching some pretty nice hybrids out at Overhoster at the dam. But you need a ingenious net to lower down and pick up the fish.
