Hello, Anyone got any good fishing tips for catching crappie on grand lake? I have a friend who lives in grove and needs some good info. on catching slabs up there.
You might get Lucky and catch some around the bridge at Horse Creek but most likely I would go way far up I believe it is the spring river up near I believe Fairland in my opinion it is the sorriest crappie lake in Oklahoma
CrappieGeorge
Thanks for the tips BG, I agree I think it very well could be one of the toughest crappie lakes in oklahoma. I have tried both places with some success, but growing up on Eufaula you know what I'm used to. If you ever get any other tips I would appreciate them.
CG I love that lake. I,ve won more on that lake than any other. Good advice on the Horse Creek Bridge though. Won second in a CAST tournament there I like Red Arrow and also a couple of spots close to the dam. A place called windy point by the oldtimers is pretty good. I also like the Honey Creek area. Just remember you are fishing clear water most of the time and downsizing is the name of the game.
I've done all the fishing I want to do, I'm into the catching.
I have a house and dock on Grand. You have been given some good advice here on the locations. There are numerous docks that have been baited and are sitting on proper water depths to be good, mine included.
I talked with a biologist the other day that said right now on Grand, there are big fish and dink fish.....no in between, due to the poor spawns of the last few years. They had done a "survey" as he called it and this was the results of that survey.
We need a good spring and a good spawn or things are not going to be good for catch if that doesn't happen......
Thanks for the advice fish on i'll have to give those areas a try. I think the hardest thing for me is like you said it is pretty clear and i'm used to Eufaula which isn't a clear lake.
