Let's get some advice from some anglers out there on long versus short one piece versus two piece versus extensions. I am interested in a long pole with good backbone and superior feel in a 100.00 or less price range for UL rating with fuji guides. Any homemades or handwrapped is more than welcome to reply. I also would like to know some people who handwrap.

Check out proanglertackle.com, I ordered two 10' which they are running a winter special on $25.00 each. I presently use Wally Marshall 10' but could not pass up the deal on the 10', found it on Texas Fishing Forum, Crappie section, those guys praised the rods. I have got mine, but have not been able to use them yet, pretty nice rods.
For everyones info almost all the rods are made from the same source from China with differect finishes for different people I would assume that the blanks that alot of people are using to make their own come from over there also and are just put together over here I know for a fact that Falcon is using a overseas company for blanks

Has anyone tried the Loomis UL. I heard they have tremendous feel in a MH but don't know anyone who has tried them in a UL. I have the Wally Marshall Dock Rod 6' and love it but am looking for a longer one piece UL. Can't seem to find any above 7' and those are rare.

I have a loomis drop shot rod that I use for jigging and it is the best I have used in a shorter pole it is 7 foot I put my hands on a 10 foot loomis at BPS and it didnt have the backbone that I desire in a 10 footer to get them out of heavy cover it was 2 piece

Here is my two cents on crappie poles. I believe there is a pole for every situation. I also think the line has alot to do with the way the pole feels. It's hard to feel anything fishing a 1/16th ounce jighead on 8 or 10lb test line. med. heavy pole, bigger line, bigger jigheads means a better feel. On the same hand Lite act. pole, liter line, smaller jig head, means a better feel. But anyway, that rod is like that first ride in your favorite truck. You either like that feel or you don't.

I agree. I have all sorts of crappie poles. My favorite spider/trolling rods are on sale now. These have good backbone and I haven't been able to break one yet. I like the foam handles in rodholders. For holding I prefer cork handles. They are these:

I spent a lot of time over the years bass fishing in tournaments and for fun so I have a preference for bait casting reels. However for casting small jigs, or light lures, spinning outfits are it. I've probably caught more fish of all species using a 6' All Star UL with braid/fluoro leader and the crappie slider grub on a regular 1/16 jig than any other combo.
My deep water drop shot crappie rig is a favorite 7' light action All Star baitcasting outfit.
I have a Huckabee 9' dippingstick I really like.
But my current favorite for dipping, flipping, pitching or live bait is a 9.5' Walleye deadstick rod with telescoping handle and Quantum reel w/flipping switch loaded with Vanish. I would rather fish that one than any other.
And that doesn't count all the assorted stuff I have and rarely use....

No kiddin, I mean how much stuff does man need to catch a crappie. A minnow, favorite jig and color, and something to tip it. Not to mention a an occasional crankbait (bandit of course). But it all boils down to that CONFIDENCE thing!! Boat, set-up, poles, and baits. I have a ton of stuff that I haven't ever fished. It is CRAZY! But I guess some fishing equipment out there is made to catch the fisherman as well as the FISH! EB![]()
