Went out with the sons-in-law (couldn't get the grandkids out of bed). Got maybe 30 small ones and 12 between 10.5 and 12.25 inches One son-in-law got 5 keepers, the other got 2. Pink and chartreuse ruled, with dark grey/chartreuse getting a few. Deadsticking was the ticket, usually after holding steady for 5 or more seconds. Had a good time with the boys, and visited with some very nice people

Glad to see you reporting again BigSky. Guess you didn’t forget how, while you were in M.

Got there earlier. Four keepers right off, then about thirty dinks and three more keepers in the next 4.5 hours. They changed up since the other day. They wanted the jig to be brought upward slowly, with an occasional twitch. One guy got a nice saugeye, using a whole crappie as bait.

Got out for a few hours. 33 dinks and 10 keepers liked a double jig rig featuring a pink estaz/green chartreuse marabou jig and a monkey milk BG. Most were caught just off bottom, by swinging the jig back and forth. Some wanted a slow upward retrieve. Deadsticking was dead.Name: IMG_0426.JPG

Hit 'em big time. Got 237 crappie and a few sand bass. Kept a limit of mostly 12-14 1/2 inchers. Best day in a long, long time. Hope it's a sign of great things to come. Name: IMG_20171210_180849.jpg

The estaz jig has caught over 400 fish, and all the paint has been knocked off, but they were still hammering it. The cooked crappie doesn't look pretty, but ginger-steamed fish is DELICIOUS (and healthy).

Thanks, Redge. And I always keep BGs in my pockets when I see the grandkids that are <2 and 3 years old. They are very inquisitive, checking each different kind and asking the names of the different colors (also keeping them from driving their Mama and Gramma crazy trying to keep up with them). The one that is almost two picks up his Mama's phone EVERY night and says "Papaw! Papaw" until she calls me on face time. I've taken them to the kid's pond at Yukon to catch little perch and tiny crappie (before going to Braum's). Can't wait until they're big enough to take out on regular trips.

Back to earth. Went out with my evangelist friend today. He caught three dinks and I got 9 dinks and three good ones. Most people left with nothing. Could be because the saugeyes were in there today. Several crappie had fresh wounds from being chewed on.

Yesterday was my birthday, but the women said to go fishing or I would just be in the way of all they were doing. So a trip to CB was in order. At 35 degrees and with a stiff NW wind, there were not a lot of brave souls out there. Susan, Joe, and Fred stayed indoors and caught a total of two fish. Gina and I stayed outside and caught about 20 keepers between us, plus quite a few dinks. Had to downsize the jigs to 1/32. Orange head/white/white with flash and blue head/purple/pink w/ slab slobber did the damage. Had a great birthday party tonight, serenaded by the <2, 3, and 6 year old grandkids.
