Like it says yesterday 03-15-10 I had a decent morning fishing (7 nice ones)and was on my way out at 10:30 anyhow I was talking to some other fishermen when I was passing through the channel where the train tracks use to go across and wham knocked off half of one ear and tore up another.
I was closer to the west side and hit concrete so
!!!favor the east side!!! (old timer wisdom that came a little late).
My prop sits about a foot deep 75hp merc
I hope this will help someone here so it will not mess up a fishing trip.
Fish On !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the heads-up and sorry to hear about your misfortune.![]()
Never, never attempt to dry out shad in a $1000 Maytag convection oven......... never!
We lost a prop in Rock Creek {sheared the pin} and the trolling battery quit as we got out to the mouth. We switched off rowing with an improvised paddle. Finally a johnboat towed us back in, I dont think I've ever been so tired after a trip! 2 years later we found the prop stuck in a stump.

wow...that stinks....I learned my lesson the hard way as well....now I carry a spare...not a bad idea to get a cheap beat up one off ebay to get you home.
OUCH!! I always idle thru areas I'm not familiar with. You never know what hazards might be lurking just beneath the waters surface.
spare is a good idea
Sorry for your loss.
I have seen what you probably hit. Nasty concrete thing with some rebar or bolts sticking up out of it, best I recall. I do recall it being more on the west side.
Even having an idea where it is, I still get nervous in that area.

Hate to hear that Flex. I know exactly where you are talking about the concrete. I have seen people run down graves creek and I think what kind of damage are they gonna do if they hit the concrete. I am sure not everyone knows it is there.

Common sense isn't always that common!
I towed a Bass fisherman to the boat ramp last year on Kerr Reservoir who ripped out his lower unit and damaged his transom when he hit some rocks going at high speed. That had to cost major bucks to fix.
