Thread: II Annual Crappie Get-Together: March 27th, 2010

This will be our 2nd get-together and I'm excited about seeing you guys again. Doesn't seem like a year since our last meeting, but time flies.

As posted previously, our meeting will be held at Camp Harbin in Arrowhead State Park on Lake Eufaula. Arrowhead Park is strategically located halfway between McAlester, Ok and Interstate 40 on highway #69.

Meeting will officially start at 10am that Saturday morning but we will start things off a little earlier than that with an introduction around 9:30 or so with the park manager. Super nice lady and she will give a short presentation about the park and the facilities.

We will have 2-3 speakers before our noon break and everyone will be encouraged to bring some grub. In a week or so, I will go into more details about what the members could bring. It will be divided up into 3 categories: Main dishes, side dishes, and deserts.

Probably let everyone out of the meeting around 11:30 in order for folks to get their fiddles out of the car or get it prepared so we can eat at noon.

One hour break for lunch, then back to more guest speakers and presentations at 1pm.

At this point, myself and the other fellows organizing this meeting (George and Leland) still have to iron out the details of who speaks when and how many slots for speakers/presentations we will actually have.

I can only promise this; The speakers will get half an hour each, then everyone gets a short break in order to stretch their legs and head to the potty if needed.

Some of these presentations might run an hour, but we will still have a break every half hour. Any suggestions?

Once Leland, George, and I have met and organized our speakers, we will arrange them and put it on a hand-out to be given at the start of the morning. Everyone will get a hand-out and everyone should be able to know who speaks when and what the topic will be.

No one will be required to stay all day, shoot... I figure some of you will want to wet a hook during that day and if you should disappear, it won't upset anyone but the crappie.

We'll have our drawings all through the day, but the main drawing (don't even know what the prize will be yet) at noon.

Lotsa door prizes throughout the day too. (trinkets)

There will be plenty of seating, plenty to eat, and lotsa hot coffee.......... George will be there early making the coffee.

Please feel free to ask questions and remember, real soon, I will be posting a complete set of directions into the park area where Camp Harbin is. I will also be putting up signs all along the route to help guide our members in. So, when you exit off highway #69 at the Canadian exit for Arrowhead State Park, all you will have to do is follow the signs.

That's about if for now.... but there will be plenty more added later. When I get new info, I will post it.

Stink, I hope this clears up anymore confusion. I for one appreciate all the work you have put in on this thing. I am still working out the logistics of my trip down to the meeting. I am trying to work it out so I can come down Thursday through Sunday:D. I will know for sure a little later in the month. I will be glad to help in any way if I can. Being a fireman I may know a little about making coffe, cooking and telling a "story" or two. Looking forward to meeting everyone and doing some fishing.

Sounds like you really have it all together and we all appreciate all the time, work and planning you three have put into this big project. We are looking forward to being there and seeing all the members from the first meeting and those who will be new to us. Thanks again to Stinkfinger, George and Leland.

Update; Been on the phone and E-mailing all morning! Comal Tackle will be sending product! Contacted charlie Brewer Slider Co. Talked with Grizzly Jig and they are sending goodies! Contacted Gene Larew, and at this point in the year Larry Russell with Crappie Pro likely will act on their behalf. We will also talk in person with Boy Howdy Outdoors and see if they can donate as well. I also contacted Danny Bowen regional fisheries division for coming this year. Lookin good! Hope everyone can make it.

Say, I just responded to a private message from a member asking if it was ok to bring children.

I reassured him it was fine and I can't think of anything better that would help some kid get interested in the sport of fishing than a get-together.

So, Yes..... yes, yes, yes....... feel free to bring the kiddos. Each parent will be responsible for their kids and we wish that they do all their hootin and hollarin outside so as not to interfere with the speakers.

Plenty of room for all us kids....... of all ages.:D
