Whats your Fav. rod length? The one you use at least 50% of the time? This is not a brand question, so a canepole can qualify LOL. I find myself grabbing a 7-0' or 7-6" when I head out most of the time and of course a 9-0' will be used this month weather permitting.:D

I find myself using my 7-6" most of the time.
6'6"
6' 6"
7'0
10' and 11'
I love my 7'2" that I won at last year's Crappie Forum meeting. Not even our grandson touches it. Nor my computer either. Three one hundred dollar repair bills was enough but I still love him.
10 foot and I'll tell you why.
First it makes a good refernce for depth. I know my rod is 10 feet so if I want to fish 11 feet deep then I let me jig hang 1 foot past the rod butt when held straight up in the air. As you can tell this makes it very easy to quickly set an accurate depth without much thought.
Also, I fish mainly in the summer and that time of year the fish are usually around 10 feet or less. So if I'm fishing with my 10 foot rod at 10 feet deep and I catch a fish, all I have to do is tip my rod straight up and the fish comes right to my hands. I take the fish off and lower the rod right back into the water. This seems to be the most effecient way to catch and remove a fish then get my jig back in the water asap.
Last, the length allows me to fish more area if I'm sitting on top of a brush pile.
5'2" most of the year (vertical jigging). Works well in tight spaces like docks, and good over the side of the boat too. Has a "fast" tip so I can feel everything instantly. I fish much more by feel than by sight.
11' in the Spring/Fall for doodlesocking.
9' for slip-corkin'.
Jeremiah 16:16a "But now I will send for many fishermen," declares the Lord, "and they will catch them."
5'6" for docks.
7'6" (custom built by Leland) for casting and for vertical from the boat over brush piles.
11' for hand held vertical trolling, doodlesocking banks, dipping timber.
12' plus for spider rigging.
I think that is all??![]()
