    Default Fishing Keystone Lake

Has anyone tried bank fishing off of highway 51 between Sand Springs and Mannford. There is a pull of before Salt creek where you cross the railroad tracks.Just curious about the fishing at that location.

In the late 1980's and early 1990's I would drive east on 51 out of Mannford to 151 (I think) and cross the Keystone dam a few times a month. Somewhere not too far outside of Mannford and before the turn north there was a place where I would see quite a few fisher looking people coming and going. Does that sound like the place? I never stopped there but it looked fishy.

I've never fished Lake Keystone before, but that creek arm looks like a place I would definitely check out.

Yea Skol, You've brought back some memories, I used to fish a pool of water East of Manford on the north side of 51 hwy, back in the 70's. The pool was formed by back water under the railroad. We used to night fish, tightlining minnows from the bank in that pool in the late spring. We caught some great fish. I don't remember why we quit fishing it, the fish petered out I guess.

Skol, that is a good spot when the spawn is on, but It's a little deceptive from the highway. It's a lot further down on the north side of the tracks than it is on the south side. You have to be about half moutain goat to walk back up that hill.

I've fished that cove a lot. If you follow the trail north, you will find some deep water (15-30ft) that holds crappie year round. There is one spot I used to fish a lot where the rock bluff overhangs the water. There are brush piles all along the west bank of that cove. When the fish start moving into shallow water, you don't have to walk so far, but this time of year you'll probably have to get to some of the deeper water.

It is quite a hike coming back with a bucket full of fish!
