Hey Cricket George - I noticed in the main Crappie structure forum you said OWDC will be putting out 1500 of the spider blocks. Any idea where they'll be putting them? And do they need volunteers kinda like the brush pile days the Corps puts on?
Thanks
Schifendecker- ODWC Byron hatchery staff are building the blocks and I will check today as to where they will be placed. I assume Canton will receive some and they will probably be GPSed when they are installed. I will report back when I get confirmation on sites and #'s.
The Byron Hatchery staff are making 850 spider blocks and they are to be placed in Canton Lake and Lake Elmer at Kingfisher specifically for crappie. The sites will be GPSed for the anglers. I do not know how many will be placed at Canton yet. I will know when they are going in, how many went in and where, the night that the project is completed. I might even be able to help them place the blocks.
Again these blocks are to be placed for the crappie fishermen at Canton. I will post when this project is completed. Canton has some gooooooood crappie fishing.
I forgot to tell everyone that Lake Elmer is undergoing a renovation and has been drained and will be cleaned out. The spider blocks that will be installed there are part of the renovation. It will be awhile before this lake is back up and good fishing.
Will they be putting any in Hefner?
No, the state will not be putting any in Hefner. Bob Martin may be putting some in 755-4014. Are you wanting to put cover in Hefner? remember OKC water trust does not allow anything organic to be put in the lake w/o a permit. Bob works for the city and he has a permit. Send me a PM.
