There was a thread on the Kansas message board about the number of lurkers so I thought I would start one on the Oklahoma page. For those who don't know what a lurker is, it is a non-member who can't post on our site. Everytime I have looked the lurkers out number the members about 2 to 1. I lurked for a while (2-3 months) after I learned about this site so I won't come down on my fellow lurkers. I just wished I would have joined sooner. I would like to encourage everyone viewing to join in and ask questions and give your reports. Some people are afraid if they provide too much info their spots are going to be overfished. I learned unless I give my gps coordinates the chances of anyone fishing the exact location I caught the fish is unlikely. We all know how hard it was to find our exact spots before the days of gps. If I say a certain creek on a certain lake what are the chances anyone will go to the exact spot? I feel this site is a GREAT tool to save time and money wondering if the fish are biting at a particular lake. If people would just provide the lake, depth, and type of lure what would that hurt? Just my opinion. Thanks to everyone that reports and hopefully more will join in and post reports good or bad.

Common sense isn't always that common!
Agreed. I probably lurked for a year before I had something worth saying. Wasn't scared of getting taken advantage of, just didn't think my little opinion was necessary amid all the others. Finally someone posted a question about a style of fishing I was passionate about and I had to throw my .02 in! That being said, don't wait. Just join the site so you'll be ready when you do have something to say.
And about stealing fishing spots -- nobody wants "their" spot overfished, so we generally respect your right to withhold specific information. However, we often ask specific questions, but it's rarely to find "your" spot on "your" lake; it's usually so we can find a similar spot on our lake! For instance, I like to ask how deep they were biting in what depth of water (ie, biting 10 ft deep in 20 fow). That doesn't give me any idea where you were ('cause I don't care), but it gives me a place to start at whatever lake I'm fishing next. I don't need to know what they were biting on, 'cause I'm going to try my go-to baits first anyway; I don't need to know what type of structure they were biting on, 'cause my lake might not even have that type of structure; I don't need to know the water temp, 'cause I can't change the water temp (much). All that to say this: if we ask a question that's too intrusive, you don't have to answer it!
Jeremiah 16:16a "But now I will send for many fishermen," declares the Lord, "and they will catch them."
Quoted from DC Crappie Kid LOL........."All that to say this: if we ask a question that's too intrusive, you don't have to answer it!"

I lurked for a while too...I finally joined and have posted a few times. I still don't post a whole lot, but I enjoy being a member and listening to these guys expertise and stories. I'm still sort of learning about crappie fishing lakes from a boat. I got my boat a couple of years ago. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the March get-together.

My wife says I give too many details, I tell her it can change in 6 hours -or- most fisherman wont believe it even if it's true!!!
