Default New tackle store in OKC

Thought I'd pass the word incase you guys haven't heard. There is a new tackle store on NW 94th and May. Its the northwest corner of the intersection of Britton and May tucked in the shopping center. It's called Lucky Lure Tackle Co. Nice little store. Lots of tackle for bass and lots of plastics for crappie with lots of Bobby Garland and Big Bite Bait jigs. Go check em out.

Do you just go fish Hefner off the dam?

Floyd - You can fish off the dam or in your boat.

Yes.. I fish off the dam. I fish many points depends on the wind.

I have no boat, so I fish off the dam.

I bass fish Hefner some, but never have really crappie fished there. How is it? If I'm crappie fishing I usually use the docks at Arcadia or Blackwell.

I fish docks before, but fish on the rocks off the dam at Hefner is more challenging than any lake I have fish. I fish quite a few, including Blackwell, Overhosler, Draper, keystone, Kaw, and some others.

I fish along side with slip corkers, but I don't slip cork. I just cast and retrieve and work my lure whether it be tube jigs or the ones I tied myself.

Hefner right now is slow, I fish there last week, so I'm still waiting for it to get a bit colder and then the crappie will start biting.

If you ask how deep I'm fishing.. I will tell you I will be fishing closer to bottom, around 40 plus feet or more depending how far I cast.

I went to Lucky Lure Tackle Co with my dad, bought some plastic tube jigs. Not too bad, considering they just started up.

I hope they offer more crappie lures in different colors and maybe carry smaller line like 4lb fireline or 3lb fireline for fishing crappie. I do know that BassPro does not carry this type of line. Sportmans Warehouse carry this line and it was one of my favorite places to buy my lures and my tying materials for crappie fishing.

    Default Lucky Lure Co.

I went by the new store and looked around. I was impressed with particularly the crappie supplies. Lots of Bobby Garland stuff. Good prices on jig hooks, powder paint and some jig tying material. Prices are fair and they are way closer than BPS to me. I think that they will be sensitive to your requests for specific products. I know they were really impressed with LIP RIPPERS custom rods. I put a good word in for you LR. I have known 1 of the partners or owners for probably 15 years. When Billy speaks about lures and fishing I listen because he knows his stuff and is customer oriented. He used to work for Kern tackle formerly Bass Pro Shop at the intersection of May and Wilshire.
I am going back next week and buy some jig hooks, paint, and some other items.
