I'm ready to start spider-rigging on Oologah. I used to get my minnows from Terry at Allen's Point, but they've sold out and the new owners no longer carry minnows.
So where's the best place on the west side of Oologah to buy them now?

i get minnows at that gas on the east side of the dam.
There is a gas station on the west side of the dam, cant think of the name of it, its not far from Red Bud bay if I remember right, I went there late summer and they had minnows.

Gamblin, you have a few options. I'm not sure where you are coming from but if it were possible i would go to Nabatak in Claremore. However, you can get them at Tacora Mart which is on Hwy 88 between the Tacora Hills area and the Dam. You have the gas station where 88 runs into 169 at across the street from the stoplights, and you have a store on the eastside of wignanon bridge (don't know the name).
Was that a bite?
Guru speaks the truth. The store in Talala also has live minnows. I usually stop by the Phillips in Oologah on the SW corner of 88 and 169. Tacora has a better selection, and they are the store across from Red Bud, located on top of the hill between the spillway and the dam.

I have never been burned at the place across from red bud but the last time I got them from nabatak I lost them all by the next morning! good thing I still had some from left over from Tacora Mart. I wonder if nabatak supplies these local places?
The Phillips convience store at the Stop light in Oolagah have always seemed to be the best place for us. The minnows stay alive longer or at least they have for us. It may have just been an occasional problem we had in the past that formed our opinion. The convience store in Talalla also sells minnows.
Thanks to all for their suggestions. I went by NABATAK to see their selection. They don't open til 0800, so that won't be a viable option very often. I will keep the other suggestions in mind for future reference.

I always go to Tacora Mart on the east side of the dam. I personally think the minnows at the Phillips in Oologah are heartier but the problem there is they don't sort them by size. If you ask for small, medium, or large minnows they'll tell you they are mixed. You will get all different sizes in a bag. For this reason I go to Tacora Mart instead.
Always buy your minnows in the bags. I try to make sure a place uses Oxygen. Some, only use compressed air. An Oxygen bag of minnows (1/4lb) will last 2-3 days just laying on a cool garage floor. If you're not sure if you're going to use over a 1/4lb at a time, have them use a separate bag for each 1/4lb so you don't overpopulate the bag. That helps them live longer too!
