    Default Skiatook lake 10-27-2009

Just returned home from Skiatook. Thought the nice weather and low winds would make for a decent afternoon bite. IT WAS TOUGH, although all the fish I caught were good size fish. No real pattern or depth. Brought 13 home.

Gamblinman, where do you launch at Skiatook. I have heard tales of broken windshields, slashed tires, etc. I have launched a few times at Tall Chief and haven't had any problems, but haven't found that many crappie in this area either.

    Black Dog.

Never had a problem here, but I've heard that all the ramps have had problems at one time or another.

    Hello all,
I'm new here, been reading for awhile and thought it was time to chip in! I fished the Hwy 20 bridge today for a little over an hour. With the wind low, I trolled the majority of the piers with minows from 12-16ft. I got skunked. Wanted my first post to be a big brag, but didn't work out that way. There was a couple there that was catching and said the bite was around 25-30ft.

As to the vandalizm, I used to put in at Tall Chief and only had minor issues during the summer months. Usually just trash thrown in my truck. Outside of summer months, no issues. I started using BlackDog last year and have never had an issue. I'm curious about Twin Points. Does anyone have any feedback?

Im curious if anyone ever fishes the other bridges. Looks like a ton of flooded timber up there.

Running from BP to BP, I always try around the FlatIron and Bull Creek bridges, but haven't had the success that I have had at Hwy.20 bridge. In the spring, I have caught some nice fish from around the White Horse bridge, but haven't been back their this year. Try jigs, blue/white, black/ chartreuse, and other color variations wil get you bit. Just let the jig go to the bottom, and start very slowly reeling it up. They'll let you know what depth they're at. Then you can just feed that much line out each time.

Welcome to Crappie.com. Brewme24. It would be great if we caught a limit every time we went our but maybe it would be boring after a while. Nice to catch some but it does not happen every time. Will be waiting for your next report and don't forget your camera. You will catch fish in Oklahoma!

Thanks Southern W. I appreciate the hospitality! I took my son, he's 2, and my wife up to fish the bridge at HWY 20 again last night. We fished the pier west of the channel and stayed put given the wind. Graph showed em stacked, but we couldn't get em in the boat. Caught 2 but turned em lose. Followed GamblinMan's advice and it worked! Not that I doubted.

I'm aiming to fish Eufala this weekend. Planning to fish 69 bridge Friday and Saturday mornings! I'm typically minnows only, but would love to be taught a lesson! I'd be willing to have someone fish my livewell so long as there's good conversation! If you or anybody has suggestions for the weekend let me know!

brewme24 welcome to the board! A reminder on fishing the bridges down here on the big-e you cant tie up to the piers or anchor under the bridge! only under trolling power will they allow you to fish directly under a bridge. {New reg's in effect at printing time this year} I can say this if you want better water clarity try the Longtown arm....good luck!

I read about the no tying up a few months ago but never saw an explanation why, does anyone know? Is this related to the no wake buoys disappearing?
