Maybe you could include some se kansas lakes like Toronto,Fall River. Then you Okies could slide up here for a weekend. If the bite is on you will catch some great fish. Then I could slide on down south and catch some of those Eufaula hogs.:D:D:D:D:D
Life is good today.
I would be interested in participating in a club for friendship and fishing but I'm not interested in tournament fishing at all. That would take the fun out of it for me. All that hurrying and running around and trying to find big fish and rushing back to weigh in; worrying if your stringer is big enough, being upset if you don't do well. It would totally ruin it for me.
Plus it would break my heart to throw back a nice big slabber just because I had a few that were a tiny bit bigger.
I have a hard time with catch and release when it comes to slab crappie!:D
This is my attitude towards the idea as well. Not interested in tournament fishing but the "club mentality" is something I would fit in well with. Look forward to FINALLY meeting some guys from Oklahoma as I am a native from here and got lost in Arkansas for the last 15 years, haha!Big slabs over on Beaver Lake though, visit J.T. Crappie Guide on Beaver Lake in Rogers, AR if you ever want a trip to remember!!

Crappie don't do well in livewells for very long. I don't know of any crappie tournaments that require you to return the fish for that reason. Most have a fish fry after the tournament, or take tham with you.

That's actually how the bass tournaments used to be, and look where they are now! The good news is that crappie fishing will never be like bass fishing because there isn't as much money to be made in it (the lures are cheaper, and fishing is - at least in people's minds - simpler).
There is no reason the club couldn't sponsor both tournaments and casual get togethers. That way, the club could attract both families and casual anglers and also those who are more serious or want to see how they stack up against the serious ones.
You should probably have a committee set up and run the tournaments and report progress to the club. You wouldn't want the majority of the club meetings taken up by tournament matters, that could run off the families or casual people.
Whether it is a tournament or weekend casual get together, practicing catch and release to the grease in the evening would be great food and visiting.
Just curious to know if this is going to get off the ground and if so how will we know if we do not always log onto crappie.com? Thanks.
