Default The things you will drag up while trolling for crappie.....

Trolling bandits along creek arms at t-bird Sun evening and thought i got hung up. Started to try to straighten out the hooks ( i use 20lb braid for trolling) and it started SLOWLY pulling free. After a couple minutes i realized i wasn't hung up but had a fish on. Only thing i could think of was a monster saugeye the way it was pulling and staying deep. Well look what it ended up being

Needless to say that was an interesting 10min tug fest and wondering what i had on the other end..ugly butt Flathead.

Heres some other pics from the evening...

and Sharlene's good slab from the evening..14.5". Oh she was SOOO ready to go home too what a trooper putting up with me on the lake all evening.

Beautiful day on the water all the way around. I bought some bandits but haven't put them in the water yet.

Where were you fishing? That doesn't look like any t-bird water I've seen!

just shy of 15 for that ugly slimy slug beast
I was in my favorite haunt by little axe on the roadbed side. I was pulling sandies and crappie off the flat there in 16' of water or so and was hoping for some saugeye close to dark. Pulled up a few more crappie but no saugeye.
IN the pic with the trolling rods you can see the Little axe campground on the point there with the sun peeking through the trees

all the coves on the northwest side of the lake did pretty good across the flats in the deeper water. the crappie seemed scattered about. Sunday was odd weather.. the mini storms came in and out. wind changed direction numerous times and we got soaked a bit too.

Caught a similar fish last year, fishing a brush pile on T-bird for crappie. If I remember right, the fish was about 18 lbs, caught on my ultralight with 14-lb braid.

Had one at my favorite brush pile. Kept bustin my line, almost stole my fav little crappy rig.
So I brought my surf rod next time!
Only problem I had was how to freeze and cook his 32# hide!

We were slow trolling/casting jigs under Blocker bridge when a buddy of mine pulled up a transom saver, complete with bungie. At a later time, in the same place, I pulled up a bicycle.
