hey z i usually fished the attractors put in by the state but also some we put in but that was a long time ago. there used to be big orange buoys on the state attractors fairly close to where the brush is. about mid lake and nw is where we always did the best. good luck.

Default Ft. Cobb crappie

Hey Catman;
I did real good last winter from late November to Jan. fishing off the gas dock in the state park the worse the weather the better the fishing but the word is out and to get a good spot you need to get there early. the marina charges ya 3.00 a day during the winter and you can fish anywhere on the dock. when the wind is blowing hard out of the N it can be brulte trying to fish on the outside around the gas pumps on the N side as you can imagine when it's 20 drgress and the wind is blowing 25 mph. its bad but the fishing is great. I have seen many limits and lots of really nice fish up to 3lbs. If you can't stand the wind chill fish inside along the edges of the gas dock great fishing there also. one of our best days last winter was 4 of us went down and brought back 65 keepers up to 15 3/4 lots of 13 & 14's we didn't keep anything under 10 in and only had 5 of those.
that was then this is now the summer dog days and I haven't been back I do have a couple of buddies who have been and they say they are few and far between in deeper water around the brush normal stuff for this time of yr.
Looking forward to Dec when they open the dock for fishing again.

hey z it took me a while to remember but we always put in at i think it's called lemons point, anyway i know we went by lucky 13 and turned left to go to the ramp. from ther just head north and on the east bank were plenty of brush piles. i remember getting a limit in early sept. when it was 107 degrees in the deeper brush.

sorry z but after a little thinking i believe i'm wrong. you do go by a bait and tackle to get to lemon's point but it's not lucky 13, can't remember the name but it's just a little bait and conveniece place. got you confused yet? yea me too.

a buddy and I went in May and we took home 70. we fished a feed creek during the day and on jigs and moved to the marked brush piles at night and did well with minnows. We are going back this weekend to fish all night. Let you know how we do!

Ft Cobb lake is still a very good crappie lake. They're still bitting good at the marina on jigs in this 100 deg. weather. They're not the slabs but good eating size.
