Question How does storms in OK affect the crappie?

Okay I've heard/read that Crappie are sensitive to barometric press changes also I've noticed just fishing out on the lake, that they will bite until the storm then won't after the storm.

Any tips/tricks or suggestions?

TX

Default Ok Storms

Storms in Oklahoma affect me! I don't want to be on the lake in a storm because of wind gusts and lightning. Not to mention hail and tornados. However---I have caught a lot of fish before, during and after storms fishing docks. The fish school and sometimes vary depths during storms but a hungry fish--- Just for my own peace of mind I don't go out in my boat during a storm.

The fish are already wet! Pressure changes may affect their mood, but when I'm hungry, the weather has nothing to do with whether I eat! I don't think it's much different for the fish. I have noticed them holding tighter to structure during storms though.

Default Storms and Barometeric Pressure

There's an article on how barometeric pressure affects crappie on the bass pro site. Just search for articles on crappie fishing, it is very good. I think as far storms affecting crappie that not all crappe do the same thing or act the same way. Remember that crappie are a schooling fish so one school may not be affected the same way the other is crappie can be any where they want at any time. Deep water (8ft-50ft), food, and shelter are the only three things that a crappie requires. Storms do not affect all humans the same so why should they affect all crappie the same!!!Just a thought! EB Good fishing!!

Default Hey Grubby

How ya doin bud.
Say how bout these water rises. Seems like the fish have really shut off, every time I look at Eufalula theirs new debris floating in the water from another rise. Catching a few crappie, not many. I am having a hard time catching gills for trotline bait, its like they have dissapeared also.
Makes for tough fishing.

I've been hitting point 19 at Drapper every other day. Some days we catch a few decent ones but the little ones will drive ya crazy.
