    Default Yesterday evening

Went out yesterday evening for 2-3hrs. Took a kid with me who has never crappie fished much and we caught about 15 keepers before dark. We were spider-rigging beaver-tails (White-flake, chart) in 5ft of water. We fishe d little after dark but only caught 2 little ones! Good fishing. EB

Hit the lake yesterday (5-1-09) started out at fish creek with very lttile luck and I mean very little. We had 6 fish by the time we left ay around 1230. Everyone we talked to was having the same problem. Stopped in at the Blue Herin to eat a burger. Then we decided to try the east side of the lake. Put in at Brookin Cove and the first 4 cast I had 4 in the boat. Within 15 minutes I had doubled up what we had on the southern end. About 5 pm I switched over to cork jigging and we found a small pocket that we started to really catch some. By the end of the day I had managed a limit of crappie. Now as for my partner he didn't fair so well. He had 10 for a total on the day. We used roadrunners, red head, pumpkin and chartreuse triple ripple. Then cork jigging it was a red head with a yum beavertail black and pink. Depth set at 2'. Fish were in 6' of water off the bank about 15'.

All fish caught were males with the exception of two that were female. Now the one thing I noticed about the eggs in them is that they were white. I have never seen white eggs before. Does anyone have an idea as to why this might be.

Jiggin; One thing from my experience is the South end is probably winding down, but this rainy weather has them scattered. Brooken area is a late spawn due to deeper water thus it's the last body to warm up, as for the white colored eggs.....me dont know? but a good report on still shallow fish thanks!

White eggs indicate the fish is re-absorbing them.

    Crappie Crazy,
Were you at bugtussle thursday? I think I saw the truck and boat you described 2 boats behind me loading out. I was in the red on black ranger with the silver suburban. 3 out of 4 boats there that evening were Rangers. :D

    Default Weekend Report!!

Hello fellows, we fished Sunday down south and had 49 keepers. One fish at 2lbs. The water temps. were 62-66 degrees. All of the creeks that we were in were running which is never good for crappie fishing. We had to get away for the main creek channel to do any good. We spider-rigged beaver-tails, vibra-king tubes, and 3' slabslayers in 5-7ft of water, fishing 2-4ft deep. Most of the fish we caght were females, some of them were still full of eggs. Anytime we were near the current we couldn't get a sniff. Lots of trash and logs floating down the creek. The water clarity was still goo though!! Good Fishing EB

Default Are they on the bank this weekend?

    Well Guys,

Are they on the new banks, old banks or did the extra water send them back out? I would like to try to come down tomorrow if anyone could suggest a good bank fishing area considering the rise in level. All you guys that got to fish Fri. while us workin' slobs were hard at it, let's see some reports!!! lol

I went today, water temp is 68 overall in the Crowder area. I caught 3 before my motor conked out and I had to get out of the water.

It looked like the guys fishing at the culbert were staying pretty busy, but people bank fishing appeared to be having a slow go. People on the dock at Crowder weren't doing much better.

There were 3 vehicles parked on the west side of Crowder along hwy 69 fishing the culbert opposite the one I mentioned above.

I kinda think they are moving around and still actively spawning.

I hooked into one yesterday while fishing on a ramp to my friend's dock that was a beauty and keeps getting bigger everytime I think of him. Yesterday shortly after he got off, he looked like he weighed around 2 lbs, maybe 2-1/2. But the more I thought about it through the day, he looked more like a 3 pounder.

This morning when I woke up, first thing I thought of was how sad I was to lose a crappie that had to weigh close to 4 lbs.
