Default What's up with East Fork Lake?

Been fishing EFL several times in last couple weeks. Have only been able to catch small, 4-7"crappie. They are everywhere. Keeper fish have been hard to find. I have been fishing this lake since impounded and have not seen this many small fish at this time of year. Anyone else having this problem? I have been fishing Caesar Creek and doing well for size and number of fish. Since EFL and CC are sister lakes, my experience has been both lakes produce good size fish after the turnover about equally. Any thoughts about the difference between the 2 lakes?

Not sure if you are aware but there was a fish kill at EF in, from what I can remember, fall of 2015. I think it killed lots of fish. Probably lots of bigger fish. EF was never that great on size but the size average has definitely come down since then. I was there a little over a month ago and caught lots of fish. Not many keepers but most fish were more like 8-8.5 vs the 4-7 you mentioned. I think the lake is just on the way back after the fish kill. Next year, they'll have better size I think.

For the most part, having lot's of short fish has been pretty standard at EF for quite a while but I do think it may have gotten a little worse.
I used to think that maybe it was just me but it sounds like it's pretty universal.

TBone, thanks for the info. Can you please clarify: Are you saying fish water that is 1-2 ft deep, or fish 1-2 ft deep over deeper water? The reason for the question is I was on CC Friday and we caught 28 nice fish in deep water, 20-25ft fishing abut 20 ft down vertical. We were on EFL Saturday and again could not find good size fish. The shallowest water we fished was 4 ft. Could only manage 1 keeper about 11.25".

For the most part ive never thought this site did much to add much pressure to the lake. With that said, there is a storm brewing that i can assure will hurt EF a hell of a lot worse. I will post a picture of it. My phone went off the other day and it was a fb notification i had been added to a new "group". It was this. Its first day it had 40 members. I made it very clear that this particular page was a terrible idea. Can u imagine when this has 1000 members? Every time someone posts a report every member will get Notified

I was quickly deleted from the group after explaining how bad of an idea this is.

The very first post was the fella that started the group saying he caught 100 and some crappie, which then sent a notification to every member. Its a closed group but they accept any and everyone. It was just started last week.
