Thread: I'm still a Buckeye at heart!

Thumbs up I'm still a Buckeye at heart!

I would like to say hello to everyone even though I am now living in Pennsylvania... don't shoot! lol!

I was born and raised in Tiffin, OH (Seneca County) but retired here in Clearfield, PA where I work (play is a better word) as a fishing guide on Curwensville Lake. Although I miss fishing the Western Basin I do, however, make it over to the walleye run at Fremont each year. The reason that I'm fishing Curwensville Lake is because of it's reputation for holding large numbers of trophy smallmouth and musky. Smallmouth in the 5-6lb class are common and a seven comes through our baitshop couple times a year.

If any of you ever get over this way (we are right on I-80 near DuBois) give me a holler and I'll do my best to get you out on the water and into some heavy bass or musky. This is a small lake, about 700 acres with no horsepower limit. You can really cut loose here, man!

Our 3rd Annual Curwensville Lake Crappie Tournament is coming up in May and we're giving away $4,000.00, 250 boat limit. For those of you who like to travel to compete check this tourney out. Last year's winner nearly broke the state record. For info and MANY pics go to my website at... http://www.curwensvillelakefishing.com

For those of you who may just be in the area this summer let me know and I'll take you out for a few hours, no charge. I'll always be a buckeye at heart!

    God bless,

From the looks of the website looks like some nice fishing over there. Like your self I am also from tiffin. Dose the Crappie Tourament ussally hit the 250 boat limit? What are the avg size of the crappie? Looks Like you guys also cacth some nice muskie. I have never caught one as you know there are not that many good places in ohio. Do love to fish the walleye runs though and also the western Basin.

Hey TC... glad to hear from ya!

No, our tournament has never reached 250 boats. That is the limitation the Fish and Boat Commission put on us. However, we did get 186 boats last year. In my estimation the average crappie weighed about .7 of a pound. Not bad. Some guy caught a 16 incher thru the ice last Saturday.

Maybe we'll see you over this way someday. It's not that far.

I showed him your reply and he cracked up! We have a local joke about that guy and his pics. He has a saying... "If my arms were only 3" longer I'd have a couple state records". He's a cool dude. Owns the baitshop here on the lake. His ol' lady is the one on my front page holding up that big smally. Now that fish was a true 6lb, 4oz. She's quite a gal.
