Hi, all been gone a while but iam back to try get some converations going while we wait on spring.:D Just wondering how early do u start fishing for crappies, month of water temps?
Me last season was march 29th caught 23 all small males but it was a good first day out. This season planning on starting sooner with the warm winter we are having. Do u think with the warmer temps the spawn could come sooner.Lets here some thoughts!!!
Fish right now. Catching some nice fish on Grand Lake and Indian. You can also catch a lot of crappies on East Fork, but most are in the 9-9 1/2 inch range.
I too have been out and catching them in deeper water in the creek channels as well as submerged brush and cribs at Saltfork

Saltfork remains the same level all year round. Now the MWCD lakes are another story, Tappan is very low, about 8 ft so they can do repairs to the overflow. Clendening is about 4 ft below summer pool. If you are adventurous you could find somewhere to launch but be real careful.

I have been fishing all winter long. I have been catching a lot of crappie at East Fork. Like Russ said most of the fish are 9"-9 1/2" long. Good eatin!
Its been warm enough, guess iam a fair weather fisherman when it comes to crappie. When its cold like this all i think about are walleyes.:D Winter looks like its finally stared 30s outside.

Will we be having any meetings before Tourny's start, it would be nice even just to get together for coffee and get get reaquainted with everyone.

As long as the lake is soft and the ramps aren't iced over, it is crappie time. If you eat 'em, there is no better time than now. A lot of times the fish are on deep structure right now, but if the sun comes out, they can turn on and move to shallower wood. I love winter crappie fishing. The fish are fat, and a lot of days you have the lake to yourself. Just be courteous to the duck hunters.

Hey Specwick.
I've loaded, and unloaded from the Afton ramp, but being
by myself I found it kind of hard to launch from. Any suggestions
as to a easier ramp to use at EF, and its directions?
Thanks.
Rick.
