Went to Indian on Sunday. I only managed a few Crappie of any size, but lots of BIG bluegill. They were pretty much everywhere. I used big baits to sort out the small ones
Have been going to indian lake every weekend and hitting them on small baits. We have been geting crappie in game reserve and on wood. Its no secreat everyone there on sat and sun the last two weeks have been getting them
Nice Mess Of Fish
im new to freshwater fishing but what exactly do yo u mean by big baits or small baits? and is indian lake only good to fish from boat?
A lot of people around here (Indian, Loramie, St Mary's) and other places use little plastics called split tails on 1/64 or 1/80 jig heads. They will also use ice spoons. Split tails are about 1/2 inch in size. I quess that is what I call small baits. Of course you will be picking up a lot of big fish with them as pictured in the post before.
What i meant by a big bait is 1 1/2 tubes. I think and i could be wrong that the smaller bluegill seem to stay off of them. The way the fishing was at Indian I moved to the larger tube because I was picking through a lot of smaller fish. When I changed over less where being caught but the size improved.
I think it would be hard to get to the fish at Indian right now from shore, but I have only been to the lake about six times so I am not a very good source of Info
The last few crappie I have cleaned have had small bluegill around 1.5" - 2" long in their stomachs. Right now I am guessing they want the largest meal with the least energy spent to get it. When it cools down a little more, I switch to the tiny 1/80-1/100oz. size stuff as well as the smallest minnies you can find.
Thanks for the report guys - Good mess of fish!
