I'm starting to get into crappie fishing more than just the spring bite from shore. I am reading as much as possible, but it's hard to find info on Ohio lakes like where I would fish. I'm not asking for anyone's honey holes, just want some general info on where to start. Creek channels, shallow, deep? Any info will be great. I'm trying to learn my depth finder a little better each time I'm out, but am hoping to get at least some sort of starting point.
If I can get my motor fixed, I will most likely be targeting Salt Fork lake this fall and will be fishing more of the MWCD lakes in late winter/early spring. I know Salt fork has lots of crappie, so it'll be a good place to help learn some things.
Best advice I have for ya is to ask lots of questions and go out on the lake with somebody who is already good at crappie fishing. Learn one technique really well, then branch out. No sense trying everything at once. Learn to slip float minnows or swim a jig. Then get good at that. Then move on.
Can't help you with Salt Fork. I'm sure some of the BCC guys could give you some info though. Ask Starvin Fisherman, Yates, Harry's Partner, Osker. Those guys all fish that circuit. Tbone might be of help too. Fatkid. To name a few off the top of my head.
