    Default So there I was

Danger on my left, adversity on my right with me and my Dad stuck slap dab in the middle. I could almost hear the roar of the crowds back on MS OT C.C...1/2 cheering me on, 1/2 booing, hissing. Even above all that, I could still make out DonDon squeeling like a girl though.

A'ite. The deal was, I couldn't take it with the weather so nice and me finding a few good fish last Sunday with my brother. Add that to the fact that I've got vacation left baked at 350 degrees for 8 hours on Monday sprinkled with Feelays reports and "ding". This turkey was ready.

Called up Hasbeen and he was game. That sealed the deal. Well, arrived at the lake and once again started cussing the weatherman. I hope for ya'lls sake none of you are actually weathermen or at least have the sense not to admit it on here. Reports were to be 5 to 10 out of the N, but it was more like 15 with gusts to 25. North was good though and I knew we'd be able to fish. My Dad really doesn't have a lot of mobility, so I made way at 4.6 mph right across into it until I caught enough land to be able to go up to 12 mph.

We put out the poles and before I could get the third in the water my Dad caught this one below.

The wind wasn't much of a problem where I was. the main lake was beating the band though with small white caps. The trouble was that with that much wind on the lake moving that much water at a right angle to me, the wave action was pushing fair sized rollers in on me. Not bad enough to keep me or you from fishing, but I worried all the movement would wear my Dad out.

So, after the first fish so quick, I was pretty excited thinking my master plan of starting 3/4 of a mile above my spot would pay off. I was thinking that my fish weren't relating to anything in particular, but were roaming and I'd pick up more by expanding my water. Turns out I was dead wrong and wasted a lot of time fishing slack water. Ended up that 80% of the fish and bites we got were withing 50 yard circle of where I'd caught 'em last Sunday.

Here's my Dad's best on the day and my best from the PM as well.

My Dad was able to stay until 1 and I don't mind admitting I didn't put a Crappie in the boat the entire time. I lost a good one and missed a few, but my Dad boated all 4 keepers. Needless to say, it was pretty dang slow, but he managed to amuse himself by giving me the full Be smack talk treatment all AM. LOL.

Dangdest thing though. Same colors, same depth and his 3 poles amounted to 90% of all the bites we got. It's just weird like that sometimes. But honestly, I'd pay good money if I could plan it like that. He was grinning and having a good time putting a whoopin on me like that.

Is it allowable to praise your Dad on one post and cuss him on the next?

As you can tell from the pic above of my fish against my Rod, Creekslick's road runners were getting another good field test. They really are some nice baits and he's a super duper trooper of a guy as well as extremely handsome and a heck of a good fisherman as well as having quite the attractive figure and the prettiest teeth I've seen in quite some time. And I have no alterier motives for posting that. Really.

Unfortunately, I there were some nasty stumps in the area that seemed to enjoy Creek's Kreations as much as the the fish were.....so I ran out. LOL.

Had to switch off to some SatDoc Speshuls. The fish didn't seem to mind much though.

Hey Creek, 'em bad boys were absolutely crushing them when I could run up on one. Notice, they took Sat's reluctantly above just nibbling it with their lips. This one wanted to rub his tonsils all over it.

Don't know what the difference was. Maybe the sweetness of it's creator?

Oh, BTW, need my address again? Or did you save it last time? LOL

And then.....it was over. Dern but 8 to 5 was never, ever more funner though.

Matter of fact, that was the funnerest fishing trip I've had all week.

Speaking of the weather, the wind died steadily all day. By 1 when I took my Dad in, running on plane was no problem. By 3, it was just a soft breeze and at 4 the lake turned to glass.................but I still fairly hate me a weatherman.

And the final count. 12 Keepers, 1 throw back, 2 stipes, 2 cats and, I think, something like 5 lost fish and a bunch of misses.

Even though I said they were crushing it above (sue me, writer's license), it was kind of a light bite 1/2 the time. Other times, they'd hammer it. Sunday was 100% on the road runners, Tuesday it was 50% on top jig, 50% on road runner on the bottom.

I was fishing a real depth of 23 to 25' and all fish came out of a real water depth depth of 23', close or pretty dang near the bottom. My spot ain't a T winner, but there's fish there if you can dial them in to the small area they're holding to. I'm 100% confident there's better fishing somewhere else on the lake right now, but I went with what I had to work from.

    Epilogue:

16 fish from Sunday and Tuesday are gonna feed 4 needy banking families this week, so those Crappie's sacrifice will not have been in vane.
