Got a bolt stamped THE S30400 I need to replace. I understand THE is the manufacturer (Chinese) and S30400 is the stainless spec.
Apparently S30400 is not a popular grade and need to make sure what I replace it with is at least as good or better since it's going on a jackplate and it's the only thing keeping that 250 hp head chopper from paying me a visit.
Anybody with experience got a recommendation or understanding of stainless grades?

316ss would be better choice for corrosion resistance especially if it gets into salt water

No salt water but 316 is what I came up with from the "internets" too. Seems the 30400 spec is something them Chinese manufactures came up with to slip stuff in the us market.
Thanks for the help.

Research "Monel". If its good enough for the Navy its good enough for me. You will need very deep pockets tho.
