    Default Needing some advice

Can any of you guys recommend a good reliable transmission repair shop in the Olive Branch/Southaven area? Grandaughter has a 2011 Nissan Altima w/ a slipping transmission.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A 2011 altima has a cvt transmission, when I was a tech for the nissan dealer in grenada they would not let us rebuild them, we just removed and replaced. It takes a good transmission man to rebuild one of those things. I used spencer lee's near oxford for my chevy and it has done great so far, he also had the best warranty of anyone I spoke with. One thing I would say for the altima is check with the local dealer and see if they have a NISSAN reman transmission for it.

I just wanted to give y'all an update on what I found out about this transmission after visiting 3 transmission shops. I heard some real horror stories about the Continuously Variable Transmission(CVT). Erin Brewer was correct. These transmissions CANNOT be repaired! The only two options you have are to replace it with a factory re-manufactured one at a cost of approx. $3200 or replace with a used one from a salvage yard by your shop. These used transmissions cost any where from $650 to $1300 depending on the mileage of the vehicle it was removed from. One of the 3 shops I talked to replaced one in a vehicle with 30,000 miles. Another shop had four Nissan front wheel drives out front waiting on pickup.
Here is some advice for my crappie family. The women love these crossovers. Nissan started with these transmissions, and now I was told Toyota and some Fords are going to it.(don't know about GM). My wife drives a 2017 Nissan Rogue, and it does have a CVT in it. However we did get extended warranty for 6 yrs/100,000 miles. We did not know about this at the time.
So if you know of someone about to purchase a front-wheel drive Nissan or any other make, check to see if it has a CVT. Then get the extended warranty preferably through your dealer.

I hope this saves someone a real Headache.
