Crappie Stalker and the Knee
Wanted to give y'all an update on the big guy. I wish it was better but it's slow going so far. They released him from the hospital Monday evening with a double dose of morphine and a referral to the bone & joint clinic. Had to wait til Thursday for the appointment and it seemed like forever for him. We were expecting them to drain it (that's what they said at the hospital) but that's not what happened with the ortho doc. They did 3 more xrays, looked at the CT scan that the hospital did and then this doc spouted off a bunch of crap that neither one of us completely understood and told him there was nothing to do but immobilize and elevate it. From the few parts I did understand, I researched online and evidently, his knee cap is dislocated. He's in a brace that goes from mid thigh down to just above the ankle. No meds prescribed for pain or anti-inflammatories. Luckily, we have the meds that were prescribed while we were in MS. Paul's a pretty tough guy, but this has really laid him low and being in pain non stop is getting to him. He has an appointment with our regular doc on Monday to try and get an explanation of exactly what the deal is. On a side note, the ortho doc is the same one he saw when a hurt his elbow at work a few years ago. Had we realized it was the same one, we would NOT have seen him. He told Paul that he didn't need to be able to fully extend his arm and would just have to live with the elbow issue. Paul went to our chiropractor after that and he was able to pop the elbow back in place in one visit. Go figure. This idiot doctor actually brought that up when we there on Thursday. When Paul told him the chiropractor fixed it, he actually said "Well, maybe you should go . . . " and then he stopped himself. What an a**. I really hate that he's getting paid. Anyway, if our regular doc thinks he needs a 2nd opinion, it will not hurt Paul's feelings a bit.
Thanks to everybody who has called, texted, sent pm's, etc. We really appreciate y'all!
