Default just another reason....

Oil Surges $6 to Nearly $122 on US-Russia Tensions - FOXBusiness.com

Remember when world events didn't dictate the price we pay for gas. I can remember rolling right through Iraq(Kuwait) the first time without a significant jump in gas prices now just the rumor of something will drive it right back up. What a crock. The oil futures market is a scurge on our society.

World events are always factored into market prices. Some events have more/less weight than others, but the market doesn't ignore any information The first Gulf war was 17 years ago. We weren't importing as much oil then.
