Default Common Sense

My parents told me about Mr. Common Sense early in my life and told me I would do well to call on him when making decisions. It seems he was always around in my early years but less and less as time passed by. Today I read his obituary. Please join me in a moment of silence in remembrance, for Common Sense had served us all so well for so many generations.
Obituary
Common Sense
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Aspirin, sun lotion or a Band Aide to a student, but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by five stepbrothers;
I know my Rights,
Someone else is to Blame,
I have it coming,
The Government owes it to me, and
I'm a Victim.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on.
If not, join the majority and do nothing

Hold on g31448. Their might not look like their is much in the way of morals and common sense in Generation X but neither did your generation during the Woodstock period. Social Security is going to be broke and I will never see it. Inflation rates are rising at a pace that is comparable to Jimmy carter days. We are in another oil crisis. We are in two wars now that We will probably never clearly win because of the politics involved. The real threat is rearing its head right now but we have spread our military too thin to do anything about it. Both wars have just about broke this country. The banks are strapped for cash because of bad lending practices. The country is on the verge of financial collapse. China owns half our debt. We now deal with communist in stead of fighting them. The country is being swamped with Illegal Immigrants that will end up swamping the welfare programs and breaking us. They will also enter our politics in a big way because they are the biggest expanding population in the U.S.. We squelch our own population by abortion. Corporations are now becoming Monopolies and our Government does nothing to stop them, actually encourage it. We have contractors guarding our troops. I can go on and on. This is what the common sense of the babyboom generation has brought to this country. Generation X will have to fix these problems or will look like a failure to Generation Y. Generation X will cause some problems as well I'm sure. generation Y will have to fix up. I know that there are many in the babyboom Generation that are oozing with common sense. My Dad is one of them. But How did Y'all let that gang get there that is running the show? I'm talking the incumbents that have been there since the 80s. Looks to me like it is time for someone else to give it a try. Probably can do worse but look at the mess we have to clean up now. I'm not talking about current presidential candidates either. One is a communist, the other will get us into WWIII. I guess what I'm saying is that in your personal lives, Yes, the babyboom generation is slam full of common sense that many in my generation have ignored. The idiots of generation X have done too much meth to be a threat anyway. Bout half brain dead but their are a bunch like me that will have to pick up the pieces of the mess the the babyboomers have made from policy. When You ask Where is the common sense in Generation X, Its in the ones working their way up under You. Not the ones You see on T.V. or walking down the street during the middle of the day. CF
