Return of the Cold War?? Worse?

I'm sure all you fellow "40-somethings" or older remember ,at least, the last of the Cold War. Now that Russia has apparently decided to show the world its "strength" by humiliating Georgia, it looks like (at the very least) that Cold War II is about to begin. The problem is... during Cold War I, we didn't have Muslims or Islamic extremists salivating to see the fall of America. Or, at least, those salivating were too poor to do anything about it. This is going to be an interesting time. Especially for a newly elected President. Any thoughts?? Should we defend Georgia militarily if Russia says "make us leave", which is highly probable? Any opinions?

WE can't fight another war. We're broke. Don't know if we should fight another country with nukes. They might use them. that would be the end. so it looks like another cold war is coming for sure. Its funny, I thought it would be from China. Now we will be stuck in a cold war with Russia and will have to wait to see what the Chinese have up their sleeves. CF

It's still a little early to know exactly what Russia's true intentions are, but if they continue what they are doing in Georgia they will need to be stopped. I wouldn't be in favor of taking Russia head on for obvious reasons but I would be in favor of training and arming Georgia soldiers like we did the fighters in Afghanistan. Those Law's rockets sure put a hurting on Russia there. But hopefully Russia will really draw back and it won't come to anything like that.

I read somewhere that John Hagee and a lot of the fundamentalists think that armageddon will be brought on by an army of arabs led by russia. Maybe my facts are not so straight or maybe someone else has heard this before too. If so, this looks like prophecy come true to some.

We could have ALOT of trouble with Russia!!! Reports out of Norway are saying that Russia is pulling out of Nato, plus they're really peaved that Rice just signed a Missile Defense plan with Poland.

Wonder what the Turks (NATO) are thinking about having the Russians on their border?
Maybe China is just waiting for the Olympics to end or maybe they have realized they have a pretty good thing going with Walmart and don't want to mess things up.
