Default Photo editing software

I have Kodak Easyshare software but it is limited in what it will do... I am mainly interested in lightning up dark pictures & reducing the redness in some photos of people...Easyshare is simple to use but not effective..

Can anyone recommend a software that will do these things but is yet simple to use? I have tried a couple of free downloads but I don't like paint brushes and etc....

I have read about Adobe 6..Does anyone use this software?

Any info will be appreciated...

Myself have Adobe 6 and it seems to want to take over my computer. Maybe it might be just me.

Have also PaintNet. It is FREE and I get updates for free about every 45 days. Also it might be me, but cant get it to do all I want.

So I use MircoSoft photo editing, that also cant do all I want.
So ending up using PaintNet, and Mirocsoft hand in hand to get it done.

Gimp2, is suppose to be the cats meow, have that also, but never used it, opened it up and looked like mess, so never took the time to see what it is all about.

I got Corel's Paint Shop pro Photo XL. I think it will do anything I need, I just haven't figured it out.

Photoshop is the big dog on this particular topic. Very expensive (unless you find it on the net for free) I also have ArcSoft Photo Impression which does a lot of the same stuff the Photoshop does.

Do a google on Gimp. It is an opensource (FREE) and it is very robust. It is very comparable to Photoshop(expensive)

The program called Photoshop Elements is much cheaper than the full version and will do exactly what your wanting. One click and the pictrures are brighter, sharper and clearer. I've used it for years before I bought the big version.

I use Photoshop CS2. I haven't bothered upgrading to CS3. It's expensive but I do much more than touchup photos.
