Default New Animal?????????????

Earlier this week I was flipping channels and stopped on the History channel. They had a program called In Search of Monsters or something like that. They were doing a program on reports of animals/monsters that were killing chickens, goats etc and sucking the blood from them. This was a really slow TV night so I watched for a few minutes. One part was about a monster type that was reported in Puerto Rico that supposedly walked upright etc. I kind of got the idea that this was an offspring of bigfoot and draculla. Then it got interesting. They went to south Texas and started reporting on an animal that was killing chickens and goats. From what I remember it covered a pretty large area down around the border, more than one animal would have as a territory. It seemed that they started showing up around 1995 in both Texas and PR. It had several eye wittness accounts and then one guy had pictures and another had a skeleton of one that he had shot raiding his chicken house. They had an expert come in and look at the skeleton and he was puzzled. Then they talked to some woman who owned a ranch, had seen one there and had collected a head from a road kill and put it in the freezer. She gave it to the experts and they were showing it on film. The pictures looked kind of like a dog that had larger legs in the back and practically no hair. It was a kind of blue color and when they showed the head it had a nasty set of dentures. All the evidence was going to a lab for DNA etc. About that time some neighbors came to visit and I missed the last of the show. My question, did anyone see the end of the show? Where has this animal been all these years or where did it come from? If it is a new species how come we haven't heard about it on the news? We hear about all the animals that are going extinct.

I didnt see any part of the show but gotta say I am beyond skeptical about stuff like that. In the ocean deep I feel there are probably quite a few species of animal yet to be seen but not on dry land. If there were anything to it the DNA and skeletal remains, etc..., would already have been looked at and if a new animal did indeed exist in TX it would be easily verified.
I think there is a lot more viewer interest in a blood-sucking critter that is
"reportedly" and "alleged" to be, than an established fact. Also remember that the media makes a common practice of feeding absolute lies to the public so long as the content piques curiosity or controversy. In short, entertaining pile of hooey.
Just my opinion. Nuthin on TV will convince me otherwise. I'll have to shake hands and dine with one first and even at that I will have to try pull the animal suit off it a couple times at the table.

I saw the same show several months ago but it didn't really have any inconclusive evidence that it was anything other than a dog. Looked like a deformed dog, maybe the offspring of two species of dog like creatures. It kind of looked like a mongoloid dog you know. Either way, it could be exactly what you stated, a new animal. Evolution taking a leap before our eyes for once. Whatever leap it may have been taking, it was an ugly one from what I saw. I agree that there are deffinately things we dont know about, especially in the ocean deep. But who knows, maybe other places too. I wouldn't know much about nothing outside of the SC/NC area.

The show is Monster Quest, and the Chupacabra is sort of old news, especially if you work with a lot of spanish people who know the story well. I have serious reservations about it but leave my mind open to the possibilities. I will say that cryptozoologist get vindicated several times a year with new creatures being discovered.

I'm sure by now if the hunters in Texas are like they are in N.C., Someone would have shot one by now just to shoot one. Um, tastes like chicken.CF
