This morning's news stated that Cheney was hunting without an upland game stamp (required inTexas), so he was illegal to boot. The White House is tap dancing as fast as it can because Cheney's "people" failed to report the incident until after it was picked up from a local news source. Doh! - Roberta

The story was not "broke" by a freelance journalist. The powers that be decided to let the land owner decide how to release the story and the land owner released it to the local news outlet.
Let's not confuse the facts with our biases and political leanings.
It was a stupid mistake by a man with a loaded gun. He failed to pay attention to his surroundings and who was around him. He didn't have the proper license. He needs and was cited for the license infraction and he was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in the accidental shooting. Case closed.......?
