Why are you harping on the Rita victims? Have you seen what FEMA is doing for the Katrina (New Orleans) victims, where about 75% don't work and were mooching of the gov't before Kitrina? FEMA has given Katrina victims far more than they have done for Rita victims. My sister has lost everything they own, their house is located 1/2-1 mile in the marsh on top of a levee. FEMA has told her that she does not have enough damage to qualify for FEMA or any other gov't assistance. I know of several other families that were told the same thing, and these people are still paying for houses that are no longer there. My sister's brother-in-law had to take his savings to buy a camper so they would have a place to live, FEMA told him that he could not receive any help because his camper was a luxury. Both him and his wife are out of work due to Rita, they both worked in Cameron.

Don't get me wrong, I know some people abuse the system but FEMA needs to help the taxpayers and forget about the deadheads that don't have jobs because they don't want to work.

It is a shame that the mobile homes are sitting in Ark and not being used to help folks. I've been down to the mississippi coast twice helping out and just south of Hattiesburg is field full of travel trailors, 50 mi south people still in tents. I go to Ms. every third weekend, "stepdaughter shuttle" and not a trip goes by without seeing 8 or 10 unmarked travel trailors heading south and this is within 2hrs of interstate time.It is a travisty and an out right shame that our gov gets itself so bogged down in red tape that people can't get help. And keep a watch on the weather this spring,if we get tornadoes like we normally do those 11,000 mobile homes in Mena and Hope could very easily be destroyed. Those things are magnets for tornadoes.

Working people get no respect. Haven't for a long time, probably never will anytime soon. Our country is too bent up on giving free handouts than helping those that deserve it.

My girlfriend's Dad has rheumatoid arthritis. Was diagnosed with it for almost 3 years before he could get disability. True, he's just 40 years old, but his mom had it and was dead by 55 due to all of the whacked out medicine they had her on. Poor woman didn't have a natural joint in her body when she died, and I'm afraid he is heading down the same road. All that medicine is messing with his mind.

It's a shame that a man can work in the COAL MINES for 10 years, get arthritis so bad he can barely move his hands, HAS FAMILY HISTORY OF THE DISEASE, and it still takes 2 years to get any help from our pathetic government. Makes me hate the first of the month even more.

Oh, and by the way: I know about 30 people that are the SAME AGE AS ME (22) that are on the draw. It's ridiculous around here. What's really sad is that I'm a state worker and get up to go to work 5 days a week at 7 am to sit and listen to these people whine about their fines at the courthouse, while making only about $200 more a month than they do for sitting on their arse. I just HOPE I never get in a position of power, for their sake, because welfare and SSI will DEFINITELY be overhauled.

I heard something about this on the news last night. FEMA's worried that they'll be held liable for the mobile homes if some new natural disaster comes along down there. Their heart was in the right place at first, but then their brain got in the way.

It's not their heart that is the problem. It is their Bull headedness that is the problem. A Gov agency bought these home to get the people out of the hotels and into some sort of permanent home. They didn't get permission from FEMA for this, so FEMA wont allow anyone to use them. They spent 1 BILLION Dollars on these home and now they say they are sinking in the mud and may have to be distroyed. That is one of the problems of this Administration. No communication between the agency's at all. It's not about the people and helping them, It is about power and who weilds it for who's benefit. Certainly not for the people that need it.

Another fine example of taxpayer money going to waste.

I had heard that the trailors wouldn't pass code. So why wasn't the code checked out before moving the trailors, in the first place. Or why don't they make an exception, as this is only to be temporary housing, while theirs are fixed. Also heard said that they were to be parked in the home owners driveways, but the trailors are too big to fit in them. Sounds to me, like a lot of lame excuses, to the whole thing.
